Restless. . .

It's 2:39 AM. . .

. . .  I haven't updated in a little while, so yeah.  Here it is.

I'm still currently working on getting a camera.  I don't know exactly what I'll end up getting.  I'm thinking about getting something nice that I can keep for a while.  So if anyone has any recommendations (Albert or Lenny) please keep me posted.

Any who,

Tuesday at 9 in the morning I had my second interview at Urban Outfitters.  I felt a little out of it because I didn't go to sleep till 3 or so.  But I did my thang and hopefully that was enough.  I'm hoping so since they called my old place of work.  I was told I would know by the end of the week.  So hopefully I'll get the call today or tomorrow.  I'm extra hopeful about this job because this is a company I wouldn't mind growing with.  Plus I think I could meet a lot of nice people.  So will see right?

After the interview I met up with some friends and we headed to the beach.  Before we got there though we made a pit stop at Dominick's to grab some beach snack food.  I would have pictures from this grand ol' time but I'm still without a camera.  So yeah.

Once we finally made the walk to the beach some of us swam, others just hung out on their towels like the beach bums they are.  After some swimming I returned to my towel for some reading.  About ten minutes passed when I hear some people passing by on they're bikes screaming faggot.  My friend who will not be named was the target on this attack.  Needless to say my friends and I were not happy about this.  The incident sparked a serious talk amongst us.  The group of boys who screamed this happened to be Hispanic.  To sum up what the talk was about, we were upset on how people of different descents still treat each others simply on sexual preference.  I realize that this is something that is always going to be around, which is unfortunate.  Hopefully one day our youth will be educated enough to not make such cruel comments.  This is only wishful thinking. . .

. . . But yeah,

So no serious plans for the rest of the week.  Maybe a concert or two.  This weekend I think some friends and I are going to hit up Grant park for a picnic and to listen to the bands playing at Lollapalooza.  Or at least I'm going Sunday night to listen to Kanye West.  Ha.  Maybe I'll find out that my video camera sold for a lot of money on ebay, so I can get a camera within the next week or so.  Best believe I'll have some nice photos for the blog.

But yeah,
Bed time?

Enjoy,

-Brock

I need your help. . .

It would be a big help if you would leave me comments on the various postings. I'm not talking about Facebook or Myspace comments. I mean like comments saying what you liked or disliked about a post.

Yeah I have this blog to show friends and family what all I'm up to. But slowly and surely I think and hope it might get bigger than this.

So please be my biggest critic. I won't be offended by anything you have to say. Plus it would be nice to actually see who reads this.

So please don't be afraid to comment on anything throughout my blog.

I would really, really appreciate it.

Enjoy,

Baker has a Deathwish.

Today was the Baker/Deathwish skateboard demo.

It was sick.  A bunch of the industries top dogs were at the Wilson Skatepark in Chicago throwing down.

Antwuan Dixon was in the house.  He skated a bit.  Dixon landed a nollie heel-flip down the set with some careless style.  He was rocking some crazy zig-zags in his hair.  A straight G for sure.

Neck Face was on the microphone throughout the demo.  He started out kinda tipsy.  Later he was pretty drunk.  Throughout the demo he was calling out everyone from Oprah Winfrey to Kanye West.  He was stumbling around asking the crowd where they were at.

For those who don't know who Neck Face is just google him.  He has been doing graphics for many companies such as Vans, Thrasher Magazine, Baker Skateboards.  He has had a couple shows in California and has various graffiti pieces around the world.  Neck has some serious street credit for sure.

Andrew "Boss Man" Reynolds was the first one in the park.  He destroyed it.  Reynolds can literally frontside flip anything.  He was charging everything.  The bowl's, rails, pyramids.  I know why he gets the nick name boss man.  I was fanning out the entire time.  This is one the most important men in skateboarding.

Boss Man.

Kevin "Spanky" Long was also there shredding.  Apparently he just flew in right before the demo and man was he destroying everything in sight.  This is another guy my friends and I would watch videos of before going out and skating.  It was awesome.  It made me feel like a little kid again.

Reynolds.  I know I got a lot of photos of him.  But I mean come on he is a living legend.

Brian "Slash" Hansen is one of the new Deathwish Am's.  After watching him skating in person I'm pretty excited to see his part in the new Fallen Footwear video.

The teams started skating the stair set in the middle of the demo.  The kids crowded around for a show.  This is Reynolds with a nollie 360 down the set.

Jeff Lenoce was at the demo too.  I believe this is a nollie varial heel-flip down the set.

Theotis Beasley was another one who was ripping the entire demo.  He landed this backside flip within a couple of tries.

Lizard King is the skater I fanned out the most to though.  He destroyed everything in the park.  He was a super chill dude too.

After taking this photo he kind of waved me over to him.  We talked for a little while.  He is working on getting sober, but one beer here and there can't hurt he said.  King is trying to get his business man on.  No more getting wasted, he is ready to be a skateboarder he said.  So props to him on that.  We also talked about Shad Lamberts web site.  King said that Shad is one of his favorite person to shoot photos with, and that he is just an all around chill dude.

I also noticed that he wasn't sporting any Circa sneakers.  King said that they just were not paying him enough money.  That they kind of acted like he was a nobody.  Which is understandable.  "I've always liked Vans ya know?" said Lizard.

Lizard King has one hell of a career ahead of him.  So that was a smart business decision on his behalf.  If you haven't already checked out his part in the new Baker has a Deathwish video.  You should probably get on that.

Yeah those are face tattoo's on Antwuan's face.

When the demo was dying down I found Dixon chilling with Neen Williams and some other Chi town locals smoking some sticky icky.  Straight G for sure.

At this point of the demo Neck Face was trashed.  He was hollaring and making a scene in the parking lot.  Neck know's his sports though.  He was shouting out Chicago basketball and baseball team statistics and players.

Some other skaters at the demo were Jim Greco, and Bryan Herman.  Greco stayed in the van a majority of the time.  He seemed upset or stressed out or something.  Herman was out and about, signing autographs for all the kids.

Overall the demo was awesome.  It was a real treat to see all the guys, friends and I looked up to when we were kids, skating in real life.  They all seemed like pretty nice dudes too.  They didn't freak out on any kids or anything which was cool.

Lazy Day's

I decided to sleep all day today. I had a long night last night. Plus I figured it would be a good way to not spend any cash money. Plus I think depression is starting to kick in for ol' Brock Brake. Nothing emotionally or anything. It's just that my fun little digital camera broke.

Luckily the iphone comes with a good camera on it.

So if you think the pictures are really blurry and all over terrible thats why.

But any ways back to the days events.

Nikki and I took Akria for a walk to the dog park.

The big dogs love playing with Akira. It looks like she is getting raped by the other dogs the entire time we are there.

But that happens right.

They were probably "Just playing".

Right?

Afterwards we stopped by Chipotle for some free goodies compliments of friends at Pitchfork.

Free veggie burrito and some chips and dip for free. Thats what I'm talking about.

Well every so often I like to check in with friends back home and make sure all is well.

Everyone seemed to be doing alright.

Kyle is still working at Honda for a couple more days.

Shane's keeping busy at Scotts.

Drew totaled his car by crashing into a telephone pole. . . .

Leave it up to Mr. Keifer to keep things interesting.

Oh, in other news. Boating shoes are in.

I hope my mother reads this and realizes that all the crap she gave me about boating shoes was nonsense. I've seen various articles in many different magazines about the popularity of boating shoes.

Pitch fork. . . .

This past weekend I stumbled onto a free ticket to pitch fork from one of Nikki's friends.

I missed out on Public Enemy the first night but I got to see some other really good shows.

Saturday it was a bit rainy at first.  Things got better as the day progressed though.

Saturdays line up was pretty good:
Animal Collective
The Hold steady
!!!
Vampire Weekend
Fleet Foxes
Caribou
Jay Reatard
The Ruby suns

Caribou was the first show we watched.  They were probably my favorite show throughout the festival too.

Like I said earlier, it rained.  Dirt plus rain equals mud.  Mud plus drunk people plus dancing equals a mess.  Which is exactly what happened.

It was hot during the day but in the afternoon sunset it got quite nice.

Sunday was an exciting day.

Sundays lineup that i witnessed:

Spoon
Dinosaur Jr.
Spiritualized
Ghostface and Raekwon
Les Savy Fav
The Apples in Stereo
The Dodo's

Ghostface and Raekwon were so good.  Everyone says you need to see part of Wu before you kick the bucket to experience real hip-hop.  I agree with that fully.  It just sucked to hear them say after the show they would be signing autographs for a small fee.

I was like mo fucka what you say?  Really man?

But whatever that shit happens.

Dog parkage . . .

Nikki had to protect Akira the mut from the sewer/water drain thing at the dog park.  Akira kept walking over the holes and some time her leg would get caught.  We didn't want to pay for a broken leg on her quite yet so we blocked her off.

Mr. Dave Stach from bachelor party weekend and surround sound joined up with us at the mut park.

This duder was just like hey take my picture, so I did.  The dog park has it's own pool.  Very swank.

I went to 711 last night due to hunger pains.  I sold my soul and bought some scratch off tickets.  I was hoping to change my life a little. . .

. . . Instead I lost because I suck?

One of the tickets was wet so I couldn't even scratch it off.

Da beach. . .

Yesterday Rob, Lenny, and I decided to go to the beach.

Lenny had an extra bike so we all cruised over to the north avenue beach?

This was my first Chicago beach experience and I'm still working on all of the different names and what not.

After that bike ride I realized how much I wanted a bike.  It was so much fun riding through traffic and just riding with friends.  Thats one of my missions for the up coming weeks.

Find a bike, and a job.

Rob, Lenny, and I had some real talk for a little while.  Talked about road trips and Euro trips.  Girls.  Future living situations.  Rob agrees that San Francisco would be a nice place to end up.  Nikki mentioned it too.  Maybe those are two future roommates?  Of course others should join as well.

It was a beautiful day and this week its only supposed to get better.

More trips to the beach?

Yeah probably.

This picture doesn't not justify how beautiful the city looked from where we were.  More and more I'm falling in love with this city, ha.

Mini ramp in the living room?

This was a total first for me.

I was like.  Uh WHAT!

These guy's had a legit mini ramp in their freaking living room.

It was so smooth and good.  A little narrow.

We all threw down on the little thing.  I had enough drank in me to skate it bare foot?  Ha.

So thanks for letting me skate with you mystery guys.  Hope we can do it again.

Welcome to Buck Town...

...Akira!

Apparently...

Some people thought the video was a good idea.

So Frequency Tv crew wants to come to my new crib and make a legit Columbia Cribs.

...

Hahahaha.

I'm excited and nervous. So keep checking the site for more information and for the video.

It should be much better quality, and this time I won't forget to show the fridge.
